Pick up and drive to Sunauli, after custom formality drive to Butwal, Lunch here then drive to Pokhara. Pokhara is one of the most picturesque valleys in Nepal, under the shadow of the Annapurna Himalayan range. A rare combination of snow-clad mountains, crystal clear lakes, streams, villages inhabited by friendly ethnic tribes. Dinner and overnight.
Pokhara is a resort city of remarkable beauty. The serenity of Fewa Lake and
the magnificent summit of Machhapuchhre rising behind it create an ambiance
of peace and magic. Pokhara is part of a once vibrant caravan route
extending between India and Tibet. This is the land of the Magars and
Gurungs who have earned worldwide fame as Gurkha soldiers. Brahmins,
Chhetris and Thakalis are other major communities here.
Early Morning visit Sarangkot for Sunrise. Pick up time: 5:00am-05:30Am as
per guide depending on sunrise time seasonwise. Sarangkot is a 1,600m high
hill situated on the northern shore of Phewa lake. On the way to Sarangkot
you'll pass through Schima-Catonopsis forest and there is a lot of
opportunity to watch birds. It's a 2 hour walk from Phewa Lake. On reaching
the hill, you can find good hotels and a tower on the top of the hill from
where you can view the Pokhara Valley and also the wide range of Annapurna.
Drive to hotel for breakfast. On the way to hotel visit Bindabasini Temple.
At 8am, proceed back to your hotel for a breakfast in the hotel. At 9am,
visit Devi's Falls,
locally known as Patale Chhango, Devi's Falls (also known as Devil's,
Devin's or David's) is an awesome waterfall lying about 1 km south-west of
Pokhara airport on the highway to Tansen. Legend has it that a trekker
(Devin, David...) was washed away by the Pardi Khola (river) and disappeared
down into an underground passage beneath the fall.
Gupteswar Gupha (cave) is a sacred cave located near Devi's fall. The cave
is almost 3 km long. It has some big hall-size rooms and some passages. This
cave holds special value for Hindus since a phallic symbol of Lord Shiva is
preserved here in the condition it was discovered and taking pictures inside
the cave is prohibited. Lunch at Kurintar and then cable car to Manakamana
Devi Temple. Then drive to Kathmandu If time permits one can visit nearby
markets self.
THAMEL: As the tourist district of Kathmandu, Thamel bustles with activity late into the late evening. It is a mere 10-minute walk from the center of Kathmandu, yet completely different from the rest of the city. Thamel caters entirely to tourists with its scores of hotels, rows of restaurants and bars, book shops, inviting souvenir shops, cyber cafes and travel agencies. After breakfast you will have full day sightseeing tour of Kathmandu city. Kathmandu Durbar Square This complex of palaces, courtyards and temples like Hanuman Dhoka Palace, KumariGhar (Abode of the Living Goddess), Taleju temple, built between the 12th and 18th centuries, used to be the seat of the ancient Malla Kings of Kathmandu. An intriguing piece here is the 17h -century stone inscription set into the wall of the palace with writings in 15 languages. The Durbar Square, protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is the social, religious and urban focal point of the city. Swayambhunath Temple It is the oldest Buddhist shrine. Looking east from here, one can see the almost entire Kathmandu valley spread out below. Swayambhunath is a best place to observe religious harmony between Nepalese Buddhists and Hindus. The stupa is one of the most ancient in this part of the world and its worshippers come from diverse ethical backgrounds. Situated on the top of a hill. It provides an excellent view of the Katmandu Valley. Huge prayer wheels and fine Buddhist paintings are displayed in the monasteries as well as the largest Buddha statue in the country. Swoyambhunath literally means 'Self-Existent One.' Swoyambhunath is believed to have been established more than 2,500 years ago. An inscription dated 460 A.D. states that the construction was carried out by King Manadeva. By the thirteenth century Swoyambhunath had developed into an important Buddhist learning site. Budhanilkantha Temple is a popular tourist destination in Kathmandu, Nepal. It is a Hindu temple dedicated to the god Vishnu and is known for its large stone statue of Vishnu, which is said to be more than 1,000 years old. Budhanilkantha Temple preserved five meters impressive statue of Sleeping Vishnu. The masterpiece stone sculpture (642 AD) had brought by the people of Bhringareswor (near Bungamati) in the Licchavi King Vishnu Gupta period. The sunken pond (13 meters long) God Narayan sleeps at the supine position on Shesh Naga (Serpent deity) with its 11 hooded heads rising his protection. God Vishnu holds a conch, discus, mace, and lotus flower with four hands. Legend says Lord Vishnu sleeps four months in the monsoon.
Pashupatinath Temple:
It is the most sacred of the Hindu temples in Nepal dedicated to lord Shiva,
first
established in 5th century. The holiest Hindu pilgrimage place in Nepal
Pashupatinath has received the attention of worshippers for at least fifteen
hundred years. Dedicated to Shiva the lord of Destruction the temple is
situated on the banks of the Bagmati River. A circuit of the Pashupatinath
area takes visitors past a sixth century statue of the Buddha an eighth
century statue of Brahma the Creator freshly painted skeletal images
guarding temple gates, and other magnificent temples dedicates to various
deities in the complex. Pashupati Nath Temple is situated 5 km. east of
Kathmandu, the temple of Lord Shiva, Pashupati Nath, with tow tiered golden
roof and silver door is considered one of the holiest shrines for Hindus,
although only Hindus are allowed inside temple, visitors can clearly see the
temple and the activities performed in the temple premises from the eastern
bank of the Bagmati river. The temple was listed in the UNESCO World
heritage Monument list in 1979 AD. Overnight at hotel Kathmandu
